The Institute of Dental Studies and Technologies (IDST) is located on the National Highway-58, at Kadrabad, 2.5 km from Modinagar, which is prime location. Course: Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)

The undergraduate dental training programme leading to BDS degree shall be of 5 years (4 Year BDS + 1 year Internship). During this period, the students are required to be recognized or approved by dental Council of India. After completing 4 years BDS one year rotatory internship is mandatory.

Dental Curriculum

The aim and objective of the idst curriculum is to produce Dental Surgeons who are socially acceptable with ability to work safety and effectively on patients in diagnosis, presentation and treatment of dental and oral diseases while ensuring uniformity in standard and technical requirements.

To produce graduates of dental surgery who are capable of functioning effectively both under rural and urban settings, and thus emphasis is placed on fundamental aspects and common problems of health.

The BDS Curriculum is dived into two broad areas …

1. The Preclinical Training Programme
The 1st and 2nd year of professional BDS course aims at proficiency in the

  • Basic Science
  • Preclinical technique and Laboratory procedures

2. The Clinical Training Programme
The 3rd and 4th year of professional BDS course consist of

  • Clinical Training on patients in the various departments.
  • Class room instructions.
  • Community and field training programme.

Every attempt is made to encourage students to participate in group discussion and seminars to enable them to develop expression, character and personality essential for a dental graduate to serve the community and the dental graduate to serve the community and nation effectively.

Goal:

  • To train Dental Graduates to provide preventive, curative and rehabilitative dental service to the urban and rural population during the period of their training.
     
  • To train Dental Graduates in method of research design, bio-statistics, health, economics and operational research in Oral Health Care.
